Since 1991, CWEALF has operated the Vocational Equity Research Training and Evaluation Center (VERTEC) under a grant from the State Department of Education. The goal of this project is to expand and improve the educational and economic opportunities available to students in Connecticut and assist educators in providing equitable, non-discriminatory programs.
Since its creation, VERTEC has been a research- and data-driven project. Our role has been to conduct applied research in Connecticut related to concrete educational and policy issues and to distribute gender equity information and resources to educators, administrators, policy makers and parents. However, the information gathered through VERTEC has also inspired CWEALF to create a variety of applied projects, including the G2O: Generating Girls Opportunities.
